The victim, a woman in her 30s, is currently fighting for her life in a Sydney hospital after being torn apart in front of horrified onlookers, suffering catastrophic injuries to her arm and leg.

Risking their own lives with the monster shark still circling in the crimson-stained water, they dragged the semi-conscious victim onto the sand.

The crowd broke into spontaneous applause as one of the civilian rescuers walked up the beach, covered in blood. “You’re a hero!” one onlooker screamed as lifeguards patted the man on the back.
