Bondi Double Bill opens this week!

The Bondi Theatre Company’s season of 16 performances of musical rom-com, comedy and ukulele fun opens this week at the Bondi Pavilion Theatre as part of its June 18-28 season.

Publicity Release posted Sunday 14 June,2026

The season opens with Uked! The first play-along ukulele musical written by Jane Caferella.

Audience members are encouraged to sing-along to the songs on screen,  or if they play the ukulele strum-along too.
The musical centres on the character of lonely Karla (Josephine Birch) who searches for love on-line and for connection by learning a new musical instrument.
Ian Stenlake plays all of Karla’s love interests and ukulele teachers – popping in and out of YouTube screens along the way.

The cast last week appeared on national television, giving the hosts of Sunrise a one-minute instant ukulele lesson. See below and link:

On the same set The Bondi Theatre Company is also staging My Fair Lawyer, written by solicitor and comedy writer Tony Laumberg.

It’s about a pompous solicitor Henry Crowley (Martin Portus), whose life is upended when a young woman Cheryl ( Felicity Cribb) turns up on his doorstep, claiming to be his illegitimate daughter and asks for a job at his law firm.

In a nod to My Fair Lady, Henry has to teach Cheryl how to “talk proper legal”. Henry’s long-suffering wife Margaret (Deirdre Campbell) and the shonky shrink Dr Punjab (Guntanter Singh Gill) add to the hilarity.

As part of the season the producer and theatrical agent David Spicer will publish the play script of My Fair Lawyer with the program; and,in the same book, one of the Tony Laumberg’s other plays The Great Divide  – which also features the characters Henry and Margaret.

“Since we staged one of Tony’s other plays Bondi Legal in 2019, there have been six other productions of it around Australia,” said David Spicer.
“Audiences should come and see both productions to see how the wonderful dual-purpose set – designed by Ali Bendall and built by Tom Fahey – is transformed with such simplicity. I am also very much looking forward to seeing how our AV and lighting designer Cian Byrne brings the music to life on screen.”

The Bondi Theatre Company season also includes a special one-off concert by Stuart Eadie and his daughter Rosie on Sunday June 21 at 1230. Stuart is a star Ukulele YouTube teacher and is travelling from his north coast home for the concert.

There are nine performances of Uked between June 18 and 28 on Thursday , and six performances of My Fair Lawyer between June 20 and 28. Parking in front of the theatre is free after 7pm.
