25hours Hotel The Olympia Launches The Odeon Cult Film Club
Branded content based on a Media Release | Posted 1 July 2026
This winter, 25hours Hotel The Olympia is turning back the clock on its cinematic past with the launch of The Odeon Cult Film Club, a film series transforming the hotel’s intimate screening room into a neighbourhood cinema every Wednesday from 15 July.
The winter-long activation forms part of a broader precinct-wide initiative designed to bring locals and visitors together, encourage exploration across the hotel and contribute to the ongoing revival of Oxford Street’s cultural and nightlife scene.
The Cult Film Club will showcase a curated line-up of iconic films spanning drama, comedy, romance, thriller and cult classics, inviting Sydneysiders to settle in with cocktails, popcorn and an evening of nostalgia. The programme features beloved titles including The Great Gatsby, Lost in Translation and Some Like It Hot, alongside modern favourites such as The Gentlemen and acclaimed biographical drama Widow Clicquot.

Guests can begin the evening with dinner at The Palomar before moving through the precinct to The Odeon for the screening. Ahead of the film, guests can pre-order popcorn with toppings by Chef Luke Davenport, served alongside a choice of beer, wine or a signature cocktail. A curated selection of The Mulwray’s signature snacks will also be available, including mortadella sandwiches, crispy potatoes with kombu salt and smoked almonds, bringing a distinctly Sydney dining experience to cinema night.
“By launching a dedicated film club, we’re bringing the building’s story to life while creating another reason for people to spend time in the neighbourhood during winter evenings. It’s about celebrating great cinema, great hospitality and the evolving cultural energy of Oxford Street.”
— Jake Guilfoyle, General Manager, 25hours Hotel The Olympia.
A true nod to the building’s history, the Odeon sits at the centre of the hotel’s cinematic concept, a purpose-built screening room that brings the building’s film heritage to life. Designed by acclaimed Paddington-based studio Indyk Architects, The Odeon’s interiors embrace the playful spirit of classic cinema. Within the intimate space, Indyk has introduced tiered cinema seating, dramatic black ceilings and statement carpeting inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, resulting in a distinctive, atmospheric screening space unlike anywhere else in Sydney.
The hotel further celebrates its former life as a cinema and theatre through cinematic references woven throughout the guest experience. From the vintage-style ticket office and VHS rental collection to cinema books, film-inspired furniture and striking art installations that greet guests on arrival, every corner pays homage to the silver screen.
