Media Release from Slater and Gordon Lawyers
Leading law firm Slater and Gordon Lawyers is calling for witnesses in relation to allegations of child sexual abuse in 2009 and 2010 connected with St Agnes Catholic High School in Rooty Hill, New South Wales.
Slater and Gordon has started legal
Slater and Gordon Lawyer, Karen Torres, said that the alleged abuse has had a profound impact on her client’s emotional and psychological wellbeing and her ability to work.
“Our client was between 12 and 13 years old when the alleged abuse occurred.
“The claim alleges that the conduct began with grooming behaviours, such as leering and singling our client out.
“This then escalated over time to isolating our client out of sight of other students within the school, such as in his office, where the alleged abuse occurred.”
The alleged abuse has left our client facing panic attacks, anxiety, self-harm, and with a limited capacity to work.
Ms Torres said that while more victim-survivors are speaking out about their experiences, cases like this often rely on others coming forward to help build a fuller picture of the alleged conduct.
“It’s not uncommon for victim-survivors
“We understand that speaking out can be very difficult. If and when you feel able, sharing what you know can sometime be an important step in bringing those responsible to account,” Ms Torres said.
Slater and Gordon is encouraging anyone with information about the school or any concerning conduct during 2009 and 2010 to contact the firm for a confidential and trauma-informed discussion.
“If you were at the school during that time and have any information, we encourage you to reach out on 1800 565 892,” said Ms Torres.
