NSW Premier Chris Minns becomes first Premier to march in Mardi Gras Parade

NSW Premier Chris Minns joined  a number of Ministers to march in the Mardi Gras Parade  along Oxford Street last night and made history.
NSW Premier Chris Minns headed up a diverse list of prominent citizens and politicians who came out to support the Mardi Gras last night in Sydney and made this statement on his Facebook page:
“I’m so honoured to be the first Premier to walk alongside the LGBTQI+ community in the Mardi Gras Parade.
I hope that in the years to come, Premiers marching in the parade will just become the norm.”
Today and every day, you should never be afraid to live your life authentically and unapologetically. We’re with you every step of the way – at the Parade and in Parliament.”

Whilst Mardi Gras started as a protest more than 45 years ago today it is  a celebration fro the LGBTQI Community and a Sydney celebration.

As Federal member for Sydney and Minister for the Environment Tanya Plibersek said:
“Now, it’s a celebration of diversity and inclusion, and a reminder to keep fighting for equality. We also remember the loved ones we have lost – especially this year.”
