Dan Murphy takes centre stage at Melbourne Food and Wine Festival

Dan’s Diner

Presented by Dan Murphy’s

15–24 March

The organizers of Melbourne Food and Wine Festival have teamed up with Dan Murphy’s and some of the most celebrated Dans of the food and drink world to reboot the classic diner for an experience you won’t want to miss out on!

Taking its cues from your deepest diner daydreams and ramping up the food with the culinary brilliance of an all-Dan chef line-up, with the all-star likes of Dan Hunter(of three-hat regional Victorian trailblazer Brae), Daniel Puskas (from three-hat Sydney restaurant Sixpenny) and Daniel Wilson (from the powerhouse that is Yakimono) leading the charge on the food, this is a diner like you’ve never seen before – the classics with a twist, and then some.

“We’re talking fried chicken and buttermilk waffles with togarashi maple syrup. We’re talking a wagyu patty melt on sourdough with Bloody Mary-spiced crispy onions. We’re talking crinkle-cut disco fries with eggplant and chicken gravy, jalapeño, mozzarella and basil. We’re talking peach cobbler doughnuts, and a banana split drenched in spiced-rum caramel. We’re talking major flavour and epic fun.”

And to drink? It wouldn’t be a Dan Murphy’s experience without a mouth-watering array of drinks of all kinds, from crisp cocktails by Daniel Docherty of hit new Collingwood bar Commis, to great Victorian wines, beers and refreshing non-alcs at every price-point.  Drop in at the bar for a coldie, a glass, a Danhattan or a Dan Murphizz at the bar, or settle into a booth with a great bottle for a feast – it’s a party either way.

The Diner opens 12 noon to 9pm for lunch, dinner and drinks every day of the festival.

– Coffee Up
Cream and sugar with that, hon? Diner-style coffee meets the classic Espresso Martini

DAN’S HAPPY HOUR

The Dan’s Diner Happy Hour

Is your name Dan? Do you know anyone called Dan? Would you like to come to the best Dan party you’ve ever heard of? We’ve got the deal for you.

This March, Melbourne Food & Wine Festival and Dan Murphy’s are bringing Dan’s Diner to Fed Square. It’s a bar and restaurant that reimagines classic diner snacks with the help of three of the food world’s most celebrated Dans, Dan Hunter (Brae), Dan Puskas (Sixpenny) and Daniel Wilson (Yakimono). It’s also about drinks: great wines, great beers, great spirits, great non-alcs and – with the help of Dan Docherty from Commis, great cocktails.

Here’s where it gets even better – especially if you’re called Dan. If you’re one of the first 20 people through the door during happy hour who can produce ID to show that your first name is Dan, Dan Murphy is going to buy you a drink. You’ll get a Dan Murphizz – a delicious concoction of Melbourne Gin Company’s fine dry gin shaken with Marionette apricot brandy and lemon juice, served long, tall and refreshing over ice with soda – for free.

Happy hour runs from 4pm till 5pm on Thursday 21 March, Friday 22 March, Saturday 23 March and Sunday 24 March. Come to the bar, show us a valid driver’s licence, proof of age card or passport to show that you’re 18 or over and that your first name is Dan, Daniel, Danielle, Daniele, Daniela, Danny, Dani, Danni, Dannii, Dana, Daen, Daan, Daniyyel, Danail or Danyal, and the drink is yours. As always, responsible service of alcohol guidelines apply. Nobody beats Dan Murphy’s on value, and nobody beats Dan’s Diner for good times.
