SYDNEY — Tuesday 16 December,2025
New South Wales Premier Chris Minns and senior officials laid floral tributes at Bondi Beach last night at approximately 5:30 PM, joining a grieving community still reeling from Sunday’s deadly terror attack.
The solemn ceremony took place at the makeshift memorial established at the rear of the Bondi Pavilion, honouring the 15 victims who tragically lost their lives during the antisemitic attack on a Hanukkah celebration.
Flanked by the NSW State opposition leader Kelli Sloane, high-ranking NSW Police and Ambulance officials, Premier Minns paused before the growing collection of flowers, candles, and messages of sorrow, reflecting the collective grief and solidarity of the state.
The Premier’s visit, which came amid ongoing police investigations and public calls for stronger gun control, served as a powerful gesture of government support for the victims, their families, and the targeted Jewish community.
“This iconic place of joy has been forever tarnished,” Premier Minns said earlier on Monday. “We must have a time for mourning, but we also must ensure that hatred and violence have absolutely no place in our state.”
The attack, which occurred on the first night of Hanukkah, has spurred an outpouring of community support.
The NSW Government has established a memorial site at the Bondi Pavilion for public floral tributes and has opened an online condolence book.
Premier Minns also reiterated the urgent appeal for the public to Donate blood, citing the “extraordinary scenes” in NSW hospitals overnight as emergency staff worked tirelessly to save the lives of the more than 40 people injured in the horrific incident.
The government is now focused on supporting the affected families through victims’ support schemes and is actively considering permanent memorialisation and significant reforms to gun control laws.
