New stop on Blue Mountains antique trail opens with local and Sydney dealers1st of July, 2022

A new stop on the Blue Mountains antiquing trail has opened in Woodford, with the old
Federation Building Materials store opening its doors as an antique centre earlier this month.
Called Mid-Mountains Vintage, the centre is stocked by thirteen different dealers, each with their
own style and specialising in their own genre.

Lawson local Matt Ward, an experienced antique dealer who formerly ran a shop in Sydney’s
Newtown, noticed the building was up for lease and jumped at the opportunity.

“I’d always noticed the building when I passed by and, after talking to the owner about it,
realised it had been home to several different antique stores sinces the seventies. I wasn’t really
looking to open a new place up here but seeing this building come up for lease, I just couldn’t
pass up the opportunity. It was like the building was telling me I had to do it.”

“By inviting dealer friends who I’ve met over the years to join me, we’ve created a store with
great variety, more interesting and diverse than what one person could have done alone. And
because it’s halfway between the base of the blue mountains and Katoomba, it’s easily
accessible for locals, as well as a great place to stop when heading up the mountains for the
weekend. I’m really excited about it.

The vendors hail from the Mountains, Penrith and Sydney’s inner west and include:
● Drunk on the Moon (Lawson)
● Halchemy Design (Marrickville)
● Ethel’s Catastrophe (Katoomba)
● Nice Old Stuff (Penrith)
● Vintageous (Katoomba)
● Remains of the Day (Balmain)
● Bring the Jungle (Katoomba)

Many of the dealers have, or have had their own shops in the past, while others have regular
stalls at vintage markets. As well as antique furniture, there’s a range of other vintage goods,
including ceramics, retro kitchenware, vintage clothes, records and ephemera.

Current hours

10am-5pm Thursday to Monday;

10am-2pm Tuesday & Wednesday.

A grand opening party will be held on Saturday July 9, from 1-5pm.
