VISIT BAR LOURINHÃ AT NATIONAL GALLERY VICTORIA
During The Picasso Century exhibition, a Melbourne institution will take over NGV’s Garden Restaurant for a strictly limited time, transforming the space into a pop-up Bar Lourinhã restaurant. Bar Lourinhã at the NGV will offer diners a bespoke menu designed by executive chef Matt McConnell exclusively for the NGV that celebrates Victorian produce with Mediterranean and Iberian flavours.
The offering includes a set menu featuring contemporary versions of Mediterranean and Iberian classics composed of seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients, such as jamon croqetas, manzanilla-braised beef cheek and blood orange crème caramel, as well as an extensive a la carte menu, including tapas and larger dishes designed to share.
The drinks menu features cocktails with a twist, including the Negroni Iberico, as well as an extensive wine list with an emphasis on the Spanish sherry, El Marco de Jerez.
Bar Lourinhã opened in 2006 after Matt McConnell and Jo Gamvros returned from Europe, where they immersed themselves in the continent’s bar dining culture, particularly in Spain and Portugal. The pair established Bar Lourinhã to share their experiences, taberna atmosphere and Mediterranean flavours with Melburnians.
Bar Lourinhã at NGV will have a set price banquet menu for $65.00 per person for lunch and $85.00 for dinner. The Friday Nights dining package for $120 includes a Friday Nights ticket and dinner. An a la carte menu of tapas and raciones will also be available.
