A vacancy for an Admin/Finance Assistant in the Sydney Seafood School office has opened and we would love someone, as passionate as we are about Sydney’s exciting food scene and wonderful chefs, to join us.

This is not a hands-on cooking, or food preparation, role – it is an administrative office role – though the successful applicant will have a keen interest in food and cooking. They will also have great mathematics and Excel skills (including basic understanding of macros), good general computer skills (especially Word and Outlook), and be a great team-player and communicator (written and verbal). We’re also looking for excellent organisational, time management and problem-solving skills and an ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities. School leavers and recent graduates are welcome to apply.

The role’s primary responsibility is providing finance and admin support to the three-person SSS office team, including reconciling daily banking, basic accounts payable tasks, invoicing and compiling data for reports, however the successful applicant will also be willing to apply creative thinking to the team’s planning and brain storming. It is essential that the successful applicant is excited about attending Sydney Seafood School classes outside business hours (for free of course!), in order to be able to describe the classes in detail to potential customers.

The role is quite diverse and will suit a fast-learner keen to gain experience in a wide range of office skills. Duties include answering customer inquiries and processing bookings, data-entry and photocopying. Experience in all of these areas is not essential, as you can learn on the job – but a genuine passion for food, maths and learning is not negotiable.

We are a small team where everyone pitches in to help out as needed and, although we technically work office hours, some flexibility is expected.
