Severe heatwave warning for: Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra, Southern Tablelands and Snowy Mountains
Maximum temperatures in the high twenties to mid thirties with overnight minimum temperatures in the low to mid teens. Temperature will increase towards the end of the week, with maximum temperatures reaching the mid thirties to low forties and overnight minimum temperatures in the mid teens to low twenties. Severe heatwave conditions are developing and will extend north along the coast in the coming days before peaking during Friday and Saturday. Heatwave conditions are expected to ease on Sunday as a cooler change extends across the State. Locations likely to be impacted include the Sydney metropolitan area, Newcastle, Batemans Bay, Gosford, Camden, Mona Vale, Nowra, Richmond and Wollongong.
