ENJOY RELAXED SOPHISTICATION AT SHAW WINERY -CANBERRA DISTRICT

Murrumbateman has established itself as a cool climate wine hub in the Canberra region. Shaw wines is a family-owned winery with a great selection of award-winning cool climate wines.
The cellar door is an impressive modern architecturally designed building with massive glass windows so you get to enjoy their lovely wines overlooking the pastures and surrounding vineyards – which certainly adds to the fantastic experience. Another highlight which adds to the interior design is the striking modern painting on the rear wall by Pat Harry OAM.
We arrived late on Friday so managed to miss the crowds but suggest that you book in advance to secure a tasting, as it can get busy, particularly during weekends. There are two tasting menus on offer, the Estate tastings which has won them critical acclaim or the premium Reserve tastings which is chosen from small batches of their finest fruit but is more limited in selection. We chose the Estate tastings which includes a few extra wines and we were not disappointed. We tasted two wines at a time, which gave us the opportunity to compare the character between the different varieties. You also have the option to enjoy your tasting with a cheese platter or order a wood fired pizza from the Olleyville restaurant which is also on site. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and the tastings were generous; we loved the wine and purchased a selection. We highly recommend a visit.”

Family owned and operated, Shaw Vineyard Estate is in Murrumbateman, the heart of the Canberra District wine region.

At their cellar door (which moves to its exciting new home, September, 2018), you’ll find a unique range of hand-made and hand-painted Italian ceramics for sale. In the adjoining restaurant, Olleyville, enjoy breakfast on weekends, lunch Wed to Sun and dinner Wed to Sat.
