RAMADAN NIGHTS LAKEMBA MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL GAINS SUPPORT FROM NSW GOVERNMENT

The NSW Government has granted a quarter of a million dollars to the City of Canterbury Bankstown for its flagship event, Ramadan Nights Lakemba, which kicks off tonight.

Minister for Multiculturalism Mark Coure said it was great to see the event return for the first time in two years, which will see up to a million people attend during the 30 days of Ramadan.

“Our Government is proud to support this significant event with $250,000, which will help ensure the event runs smoothly, is safe and enjoyable,” Mr Coure said.

“Multicultural events such as these are key to helping us bounce back and reconnect with one another after the challenges caused by the pandemic.

“I look forward to attending the event and sharing in the spirit of reflection and togetherness this holy month.”

City of Canterbury Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour said the funding would help secure the event’s successful reintroduction after two years of hibernation.
