NSW Opposition criticism of  Service NSW’s Covid 19 Business Grants rollouts not justified !

-How is Service NSW tracking in relation to the Covid 19 Business Grants ?

Service NSW is delivering support to individuals, families and businesses on behalf of the NSW Government.

According to government sources, their  teams are “working very long hours in an all hands on deck manner ”  to respond to the huge demand for COVID-19 business support.

Whilst there were delays at the outset,.as they rolled out a completely new scheme and new systems were implemented, the NSW Government has apologised  for initial delays and rectified the situation with positive and decisive action,..

Ms Berejiklian recently said a backlog of the state’s COVID-19 business grants, micro-business grant, and JobSaver payments would appear in bank accounts at increasingly fast  rates, more than one month after applications opened.

“All of us appreciate the stresses everybody is going through, but  we have always taken  the approach in New South Wales to ensure the economic support is there so people don’t feel they have to breach the public health orders.”

At this mornings media conference NSW Services Minister Victor Dominello apologised for delays but said the demand had been unprecedented.

He released the following figures:

Since the first 2021 COVID-19 business grant application was launched on 19 July 2021, we have:

  • assigned 587 assessors to process applications
  • extended our applications processing to 7 days a week
  • hired 350 additional staff to answer customer enquiries
  • extended our hours to provide 24/7 COVID-19 business support.
