Men’s Basketball semi-final preview

In chase for fourth straight basketball gold, U.S. joined in semi-finals by Australia, France, Slovenia – Things to know

The United States, winners of the last three Olympic tournaments, are one win away from returning to the gold medal game.

Standing in their way is Australia. The no.3 ranked team in the world is filled with plenty of elite NBA talent in their own right; don’t forget that this is the team that beat the USA in an exhibition warm-up game prior to the start of Tokyo 2020.

The other semi-final should provide plenty of fireworks as well.

Slovenia have made the most of their Olympic debut in men’s basketball, and led by Luka Doncic – arguably the player of the tournament – they pose a serious threat to Utah Jazz centre Rudy Gobert and France. Both of these teams are yet to lose in Tokyo – but one will fall come tip-off on Thursday at 20:00 JST.

You can learn more about the men’s semi-finals in our preview article below.
