COMMUNITY PHARMARCIES MUST PLAY BIGGER ROLE IN VACCINATION
Shadow Minister for Health Ryan Park has once again called on the NSW Government to better utilise community pharmacies to accelerate the rollout of the vaccination program and make it easier for community members to get vaccinated.
The Shadow Minister has again written to the Minister for Health calling on the Government to dramatically increase the number of pharmacies involved in the vaccination roll out across NSW after the Premier announced a fortnight ago that just twenty-two pharmacies across regional and rural NSW will be involved in a pilot program,” he said.
“Pharmacists are trusted health professionals in the community and local pharmacies are spread out right across the cities, town and villages in NSW so they are in a strong position to help get the vaccination program back on track,” he said.
“The reality is this should have happened sooner, but it is now critical as we deal with this current outbreak that we get pharmacies more involved so we can get a lot more people vaccinated against this deadly virus,” he said.
“We cannot delay any more, we are at a critical time in relation to the pandemic and everything must now be focused on increasing the vaccination rate if we are to protect lives and livelihoods,” he said.
