Can you hack it?-Jobs for Ethical Hackers

The AFP is seeking highly-skilled cyber security experts, programmers, ethical hackers and malware analysers to help outsmart cybercriminals around the world.

Early next year, the AFP will launch a recruitment campaign encouraging those with experience or qualifications in IT, cyber security or related fields to apply for a career with AFP Cybercrime Operations as a technical specialist.

AFP Commander Cybercrime Operations Chris Goldsmid said the campaign, that will run on the website and social media would highlight the upcoming opportunities, so the right candidates don’t miss out.

“We’re looking for the best and brightest to help the AFP protect Australians and Australia’s interests,” Commander Goldsmid said.

“Our cybercrime experts are diverse in their background, qualifications, perspectives and experience.”

AFP cybercrime investigators seek out, disrupt and outsmart criminal groups and individuals harming Australia and our community.

Successful candidates will work in multi-disciplinary teams embedded with AFP investigators, technical operational specialists and intelligence officers. These multi-disciplinary teams are an AFP first and play a critical role in identifying cybercriminals targeting Australia and bringing them to justice.

“We know the AFP’s technical capabilities highlighted in Operation Ironside have captured the attention of many in Australia and overseas,’’ Commander Goldsmid said.

“We also know that some serious criminals have been left reeling by the AFP’s capability.

“The AFP will continue to build on its technology and capability.

“The AFP is at the cutting-edge when it comes to fighting crime and we need the next generation of specialists to help us deliver maximum impact on the criminal environment.”

“No investigation in cybercrime is the same and you could play a crucial role in investigating, disrupting and prosecuting domestic and international offenders.”
