EXHIBITION-“Into the Blue”
(The Blue Mountains World Heritage Listing)
In 2000 the Greater Blue Mountains area was added to the World Heritage List in recognition of the exceptional diversity and integrity of its eucalypt forest communities. It opened in November 2012 as part of the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, Into the Blue (Blue Mountains World Heritage Exhibition) and features high-tech interactive exhibitions exploring the natural as well as the social landscapes of this unique area.
Audiences are invited to navigate their way through these stories through an immersive exhibition experience, introducing them to the richness and wonders of the Blue Mountains World Heritage area.
There is no Admission charge to the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, which gives free access to the Library, to the Reception Desk and Shop, to the Courtyard, and to the Café.
Within the Cultural Centre there is a combined Admission Charge to the “Blue Mountains World Heritage Exhibition” and to the “Blue Mountains City Art Gallery”:
Adults – $5
Children under 16 – Free
Tickets purchased under the scheme of Admission Charges are available for use only on the day of issue.

Opened 17 November 2012, the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre features the Blue Mountains City Art Gallery and World Heritage Exhibition which is devoted to education about the distinctive environment, history and culture of the Blue Mountains region.
The Cultural Centre is co-located with the new Katoomba Library.
The Cultural Centre showcases innovative, diverse, distinctive and creative cultural programs for enjoyment by residents of, and visitors to, the Blue Mountains.
Built on the highest point in Katoomba with panoramic views of the World Heritage area, it links the main shopping precinct on Katoomba Street through enhanced pedestrian connections.
It is believed the Cultural Centre significantly contributes to the improvement of the economic health and cultural vitality of the Blue Mountains and the surrounding regions.

Monday – Friday 10 am – 5 pm
Saturday + Sunday – 10am – 4pm
Public Holidays – 10 am – 2 pm (closed Good Friday and Christmas Day)

Trains arrive at Katoomba Station every hour, and we are only a short journey from the station on foot or bike via Katoomba St or Parke St. We’re directly alongside the Carrington Hotel (you can’t miss the giant smokestack).
Undercover parking (access via Parke St) is available below the Cultural Centre, which also provides elevator access. The Cultural Centre is located on level 1.

Peter Adams: A Few of the Legends

For over 30 years, Blue Mountains based photographer Peter Adams has traversed the globe photographing some of the greatest photographers of the 20th century. The exhibition A Few of the Legends will bring together a selection of over 60 of the 280 portraits by this photographer’s photographer.
The production of the photographs for the exhibition has been generously supported by Canson Australia (paper) and Kayell, Australia (printing).

Cultural Centre café
Situated in the Cultural Centre with indoor and outdoor seating, the Cultural Centre café serves an all-day menu including morning coffee, afternoon tea, sandwiches and light lunches. With its focus on fresh and local, it’s a great place to catch up with friends or take a break whilst visiting the Art Gallery.
(As a frequent visitor, the Editor of this magazine, frequently takes his caffeine fix here,…the coffee is an excellent roast and hard to beat by any standard!)
