2021 James Halliday Wine Companion.

We can all do with a little more effervescence at the moment, but while the festival is on ice, there is some fantastic news to look forward to if you are in Tasmania in November. Tyson Stelzer will be returning to host a sparkling wine dinner in recognition of success of the Tasmanian sparkling wine industry.

“I’m delighted to return to Josef Chromy Wines to host a very special sparkling celebration on Friday 6 November 2020. Tasmania has again shone as Australia’s hero sparkling state in my Australian Sparkling Report 2020 (coming later this month) and I’ve invited the top 15 estates to each share their flagship cuvée over dinner.” Tyson Stelzer.

The museum may be shut but David’s brain has been working overtime, concocting a plan to reopen Faro and experiment on you therein. Willing participants will be subjected to a mystery menu, changing theme each week, and you won’t know what you’re in for until you arrive at the museum. The food, the drinks, the live music, societal norms—David wants to experiment with the lot, and you’ll need to sign a waiver absolving Mona of any charges of poor taste. You’ll also get to see parts of the dormant museum with hardly anyone else around, and—if late lunch is your thing—the dusk ascension of spectra.
Stay safe and if you have a spare moment jump on the mailing lists, join a wine club, and buy Tasmanian sparkling wines when you can.
