What’s on at the Gallery | National Youth Week, Touring Exhibitions and Building Upgrades

Worldwide is a major collection presentation that celebrates the diversity of art and cultures, showing how fundamental ideas continue to resonate and demonstrating the interconnectedness of culture and our experience of the world.

The display is structured around pivotal works including The Aboriginal Memorial of 200 dupun (hollow log coffins), Jackson Pollock’s Blue poles and Sidney Nolan’s iconic Ned Kelly series which has returned from a four-year national tour.

Virtuoso pianist Sonya Lifschitz and composer Robert Davidson present a series of musical portraits spanning centuries of female leaders, scientists and artists.

Chill out in to performances by the best youth talent ACT has to offer including Tahalianna, Jye Cole Hopkins, Girls Rock! Canberra, Kulture Break and Muesli. This National Youth Week event is for young people aged 13-25. For a digital experience, join the livestream online.

The Government has announced funding to secure the future of Australia’s important cultural and historical institutions in this year’s Federal Budget. This investment will help to safeguard the National Gallery and the collection for all Australians.

Major capital works to improve and preserve our heritage building are underway including lighting, electrical, signage and mechanical infrastructure upgrades. During this time some galleries will be closed.
