Important Information about Writers’ Week
Dear Aksel,
If you’ve been past the Gardens in the last few days, you’ll see it is already very much looking like Writers’ Week, ready for our kick off on Saturday.
Despite looking the same, there will be some changes to the way the site operates this year. Please read on to find out more.
We look forward to seeing you very soon!
Jo Dyer
Director, Writers’ Week
KEEPING YOU SAFE
Like last year, in line with SA Health directives, the site will be fenced and there will be a reduced and strict capacity limit in place. Regrettably, we anticipate that we may have to turn some people away during the busiest times, especially on Saturday and Sunday.
We recommend arriving early to avoid missing your chosen sessions.
Our team is working hard to ensure the event is as safe and successful as possible. Thank you for being kind to our staff and volunteers, and for following their instructions.
COVID-19 Management
Everyone aged 16+ will need to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a valid medical exemption. Patrons must show their COVID-19 digital certificate on their phone or photo identification with a printed immunisation certificate or official medical exemption with a negative test (for details, check our full COVID policy).
For help connecting your digital vaccination certificate to your mySA GOV check-in app, please click here.
All patrons will be required to complete an SA Government COVID safe check-in on arrival. Manual check-in will be available at the venue.
Masks are strongly encouraged for everyone aged 12+.
Do not attend if you
- have been deemed a close contact
- feel unwell or have cold or flu-like symptoms
Schedule Updates
With well over 100 Writers’ Week sessions and COVID-19 still a reality, there were bound to be some changes. If you have the printed guide in your hands, please note that a handful of sessions have been affected. We apologise for any inconvenience.
We will do our best to keep our website up to date, which you can check for any schedule or line-up changes and at the Garden itself you can always refer to the timetable signs or ask one of our staff or volunteers.
Back in 2022
Book Tent
Our book tent will be back in 2022! Please support our authors and Writers’ Week in these difficult times for the arts sector by buying up big across the week. While you wait for Saturday to arrive, you can also find our authors’ books at our favourite bookshop, IMPRINTS on Hindley Street.

A Sustainable Festival
Adelaide Festival is proudly Carbon Neutral and you can help us reduce our impact on the environment further! Download the REFOREST app to track your carbon footprint when travelling to Writers’ Week and REFOREST will plant trees in local reforestation projects to counteract those emissions.
