Sydney, 19 November 2025 – Next Friday, 28 November, Barangaroo becomes an actual beach with 280 tonnes of white sand trucked into the heart of the city, transforming the harbour foreshore into Sydney’s most unusual cinema.
This is Mov’in Bed’s magic: creating a city beach where around 150 queen and king beds replace cinema seats, where the harbour skyline becomes your backdrop, and where a night at the movies means literally lying on the sand under the stars. Just in time for summer, every Wednesday to Sunday night, this beach cinema offers what no other Sydney outdoor cinema can: your own private bed, toes in the sand, harbour views, and blockbusters on the big screen.

The format is simple: arrive early, claim your bed on the sand, watch the sunset over Barangaroo, order chef-made pizzas and burgers delivered to your bedside, sip cocktails with your toes in the sand, then lie back as the film takes over. The beds change everything. Suddenly outdoor cinema works for people who couldn’t handle sitting on grass for two hours. Friends can share a king bed and sprawl out together. And for the first time, dog owners don’t have to leave their pets at home, bring them along and they’ll get their own little bed next to you!
Restaurant-quality dining, prepared in front of you, delivered to your bed
Behind the beds sits an open kitchen where chefs cook every order fresh. Watch your pizza being made, then have it delivered straight to your bedside. This isn’t cinema snack-bar food, it’s restaurant-level dining with chef-made pizzas, gourmet burgers and share plates, plus cocktails and wine service, all without leaving your bed on the sand.
A summer of blockbusters and classics
The season launches with romance (Regretting You), then delivers action spectacle Tron: Ares, powerful stories like Twinless, One Battle After Another and A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, musicals like Wicked For Good and Kiss of the Spider Woman, and finally blockbusters Now You See Me Now you don’t, and Fantastic Four.
From mid-December, the beach turns festive with beloved Christmas classics: Home Alone, Love Actually, Die Hard, Elf, and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Accessible luxury for all Sydneysiders
Tickets start at just $12 for sand positions (BYO blanket), with queen-size bed experiences from $45 per person and VIP packages from $75 per person including sparkling wine, butler service, unlimited gourmet popcorn and premium viewing. Beds accommodate 2-3 guests. Mov’in Bed has held ticket prices for four years, keeping this experience accessible to everyone.

Located in Barangaroo’s Harbour Park, the cinema sits in Sydney’s most connected precinct with Metro, ferry, bus and train access. The season runs Wednesday to Sunday from 28 November 2025 through April 2026.
