April Ross and Alix Klineman win gold for the US In Beach volleyball
April Ross and Alix Klineman won gold for the U.S. in women’s beach volleyball Friday, defeating the Australian duo of Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy 21-15, 21-16 at Shiokaze Park.The American briought up six gold medal points but the Australians saved the first set on a nice smash by Clancy.Then the Americans play a nice shot that just landed out.
But on the third match point, they sealed the deal – the “A team” win gold!
Final scores 21–15, 21–16.
Silver to Australia.
Ross, is a a former USC standout from Costa Mesa, who won silver at the London Games in 2012 and bronze in Rio de Janeiro five years ago. Klineman is a first-time Olympian from Manhattan Beach. Both players currently train in Hermosa Beach.
