Nestled in the mountains just outside Beechworth, Savaterre is one of Australia’s most celebrated wineries. Since discovering the site in 1996, Keppell Smith has focused on creating wines that are individualistic, Old World-inspired, and uncompromising in quality. Named among Australia’s top 25 vineyards, Savaterre consistently earns praise from critics and collectors alike.

This week, we are proud to release three exceptional wines from Savaterre, each reflecting Keppell’s philosophy: only releasing a wine when it is truly ready.

The 2024 Frere Cadet Chardonnay is refined and precise. Floral lime blossom and gardenia meet white nectarine, grapefruit, praline, brioche, and hints of cinnamon and cardamom. The palate is juicy, structured, and long, with minerality and a spine of acidity that makes every sip irresistible. Although Frere Cadet means “little brother” this is by no means a second wine, just a different terroir showing its own personality.

The 2024 Savaterre Pinot Noir is seductive, intricate, and vibrantly alive. Aromas of rose petal, raspberry, red cherry, blueberry, violets, and exotic spice fill the glass, while the palate delivers fine tannins, lively acidity, and a seamless, harmonious complexity. After pouring all the 2023 Pinot down the drain as it wasn’t up to scratch, this vintage proves Keppell’s patience pays off.

The Savaterre Reserve Pinot Noir 2022 is the ultimate expression of the vineyard. The first-ever release of the Reserve range, this is widely regarded as the best Savaterre Pinot ever. Dark cherries, truffles, tobacco, dried herbs, potpourri, and cedar create a medium-bodied, perfectly balanced wine with elegance, length, and soul. Only 33 bottles remain in our sheds. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
