Dear Opera House family,The Sydney Opera House was built to serve the community, in good times and bad. Earlier this week, we temporarily stopped all public-facing activity – performances, tours, bars, and restaurants – as a result of nationwide measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the community. Throughout this unexpected and difficult time, our key focus remains the health and wellbeing of our artists, audiences, visitors and valued staff. It is vital that we take all possible steps to protect everyone in our community. Further health and safety information is available online here. Where possible, our staff are working from home. Essential operations are continuing on site in line with the latest Government advice, including building works, maintenance and security. From our House to yours Despite not being able to welcome you to live performances in person, we are committed to continuing to bring you the best the world has to offer, as we have since opening in 1973. The difference is that, for the moment while our doors are closed, it will be online – from our House to yours. Next week, we’ll be launching a digital season, ranging from contemporary music and performance to talks, kids, classical and First Nations programming. We’ll also be posting inspiring new videos, podcasts and articles. If you’d like to keep in touch, please follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. You can also explore our Youtube channel, listen to our podcasts and check the website for the latest updates. Ticketholder information If you’ve been affected by the performance and tour cancellations, and we haven’t already done so, we’ll contact you directly to arrange refunds. If you have tickets for an event after 17 June, please wait for further updates before getting in touch. Your patience is appreciated as our teams work through this process. Thank you to everyone for your understanding and support. Louise Herron AM Sydney Opera House CEO |
